Whangaungatanga - getting to know each other / developing relationships

Well we got through our first 5 day working week of 2017.

What a busy one it was. Next week we bring our devices and get started on those. I'm really excited!

Last week we continued looking at what working together looks like, why it's important to be able to work in lots of different groups with lots of different people and how being collaborative can improve our learning, help us grow and shows us our skillset. Below are some of the highlights:

The blindfold trust game:

We talked about and learnt how we were going to interact as mathematicians and started learning about how Maths as Inquiry will look in A6. First we solve a real world problem using only our own knowledge. We need to use a range of strategies to check our working. Then in groups we look at and discuss our thinking:

Some other highlights were:  Popcorn planet, but I can't find the photos of that experience. We found out why sharing and considering others are important.

I also personally found the Powhiri on Friday very moving. It's great to be at Whangaparaoa! I'll try and get the movie I took to load, Olivia was amazing and performed the Karakia beautifully. Ka Pai Olivia.

She also features in this weeks selfie:
